No matter where we are in the world, no matter where we are in stages of life, we all succumb to slumber at some point during our day.  Our bodies, souls, and minds recharge as we sleep.  This series embodies the exploration of painting the specific mark we leave after we wake from that rest.  The etching that remains represents a moment in time.  It is our personal landscape.  Nocturnal Landscapes explores putting this feeling into a physical representation that allows our loved ones to remain with us after they have moved on.

Nocturnal landscapes, created by a loved one’s body imprinted into their bed, are remnants of his/her complete release and journey to the subconscious.  Some may leave a frenzied mountainscape from an active slumber, while others may leave rolling hills from a motionless nocturnal recharge.  I have asked my friends and family members, people I love, to send me a snapshot of their own nocturnal landscapes so that I may create an homage to their state of rest and relaxation.  These paintings are all adulations of the moment and the place that they recharge their inner bodies.
